The Shop
Since logging my shop progress over the years I've lived in three different locations now. Each location with several different layouts. Fortunately, each shop has gotten progressively better. Which if you think about it, then hopefully so has my Woodworking. Luckily for me, each shop has gotten bigger with each location, rather than starting at the top and having to go backwards at some point.
My first shop was a little 140 some square foot damp basement with one circuit and two lights in a house that I was renting, thus I really didn't dump a lot of money and time into. I made due, but turned out very little product as it was really frustrating to work in such a poor area. As well, I was only there a short while.
My second shop was the Sycamore shop, which is widley documented on this site, as it was the first shop I was able to mold to do whatever I wanted. You can find all types of information about that shop by starting at the link down the page entitled Sycamore Shop. That link will take you to the shop I developed throughout my duration while living in condo in Sycamore (I appologize, as the information may be a bit hard to follow and was written in more of a journal format and I don't plan to update it). I spent a little over two years there and spent more time on house projects then furniture type products. Still, I learned a lot and hope to take those experiances to the next shop.
I'm getting ready to start the construction of my third shop to date. Once again I have upped my square footage to accomodate my ever growing collection of tools. This time I am looking forward to more shop time and less time on the house, as this house is new construction. I'm hoping to get into more furniture making, this time maybe some bedroom furniture would be a nice challenge, also I would like to learn more about turning and hand joinery rather than all machines and jigs.
Below are the links to the shops that have been documented on this site. The Sycamore shop is my first real shop I docuemted and the Mayfield is the current shop I am (actually doesn't exist just yet at time of this writing) working out of.
